Is that place deep enough for my 12 foot boat to go on? Planning a trip up there and want to make sure, if not I will just shore fish. I remember passing that place and it looked pretty big so that's why I kind of want to take a boat. Thanks!

yes- not that it's not shallow and muddy but they water ski on it.

Run the bass boat out there. You should have no problem at.

Thanks you two! I'm heading up today to try my luck at some cats. Them ones from the contest are making me jealous! I will post how I did.

Yes the Benson marina will get you into fish, watch for mud bars and when going north the west side will be deepest. Go careful at first and most places the bottom is soft so you typically won't lose a prop if you hit bottom. There are some clay spots though that could cause problems. If I was going to be around tonight I'd show you some areas, but I have mutual tonight so I'm not available. I could be tomorrow. Good luck. J

Thanks for the info. I launched at Benson and headed down the lake towards the Dam and stopped and fished at places that looked good with no luck. I had to turn around after I hit a mud bar in the middle of the lake that I couldn't get around. I loaded the boat up and fished by the bridge and had one fish on but lost it. Stopped at Willard on the way home and trolled some swim baits with no luck either! Tried for some catfish by the light pole with a couple bites, but no takers. All in all still a good day to just get out and go fishing!

That area by the bridge is actually really good, it's too bad it's so close to the road so everyone fishes it, but it holds a lot of fish in that deep channel... You can usually graph a whole bunch in there... Making them bite is usually more difficult because the've seen lots of different offerings.. But I've seen several really nice cats come out of there already this spring not to contest participants and I expect if everyone that has been catching cutler cats on the contest fessed up where they caught them, I'll bet several would be from that spot... Sorry you didn't get a few, but Cutler is like that, hot one day, dead the next.... Or else Channels one day and carp and mudcats the next...
As much as I've fished Cutler it's still the most frequent skunk on my list... Next time you try it let me know and if I can get away I'll try to show you a few areas that you might consider for a cat fest.... It's funny all the spots I think look good, I hardly ever catch any, but there are a few spots I think I'll never catch anything there, that end up being great... I guess I just have bad taste in fish hang outs... Anyway Later J
