Lincoln catfish report
#1
Very good catin' at Lincoln the past couple of days. Most of the cats are around 2 feet long and they put up a pretty good fight. They like chub or wb meat.

Five or six trucks at the first spring and a couple of boats headed for the island. Had a pleasant encounter with Tube Dude's pet mink too. He is hanging out on the north side of the launch channel now. Looked to me like he was panhandling for grub again. I thought he gave me a dirty look when I couldn't pony up a chub.

Beautiful day.. . see first pic attached. I never get tired of being on the lake at sunrise with calm seas. Purty.

I think I just missed MSM as he was coming and I was leaving at about 11:00?? Next time.

Water temp hit 55 when I left. The cats are really coming on. Still no monsters yet but one of thsse days....

Sounds like a fun trip. And congratulations on your six-year anniversary (under your current user name). Someday, I hope tax season ends and I get to go fishing again.[frown]

Nice work! I'm glad you had a good trip. I suspect the big REALLY ones won't stay hidden for long. Is the water coming up any faster yet?

Thanks,

Pisco

Thought that was you for sure.... white Dodge, Bayliner, white trailer... one of these days.

Not much wind when I left at 11:00... just enough to put a ripple on the water. You should be okay and I hope you find you eyes.

Picso... No trouble launching. I think the water level is pretty consistent at about 2 feet in the channel. If we could just get the County boys to move those stupid buoys out of the channel we should be in good shape for the summer. Water temp was 53 yesterday and 55 today. One more warm day before the cold comes back for a few days. Won't be long now 'til the big cats start staking out their love nests. It should be a good year if we keep getting more water in the tub.

Thanks Kent. Six years as BLK and I had a couple of years under another user name. My former moniker was "8incher" cuz that's usually the size of the fish I catch. That user name worked just fine until I got a pm from someone who wanted to see my 8 incher and he wasn't referring to my 8 inch fish. Scared the hell out of me cuz the best I could have done for what he was looking for was more in the 2 1/2 inch range. I never posted again until I could come up with a new identity.

All is well now.

TC-- Only kept two of the fish I caught today. The others posed briefly for a photo shoot and were then ejected back into the sea. Never had more than eight in my possession at any time. I had a small relative with me today for a "spring break" fishing trip.

[#0000FF]Nice work. I caught some fishies up north today too. No contest-worthy cats but 4 very good eating ones.

Hey Pat and Lynn all cats are contest worthy, I know the guy that's keeping score and he doesn't mind bumping fish later when bigger ones are caught. Man I wish I would have been fishing today instead of working. Sounds like both of you had a great day. Thanks for sharing it. Later J

[#0000FF]I'm not foolin' witcha...on the contest. I will likely not post anything up under about 28 - 30 inches. And then it is a major project for me to kick or motor to shore, get out of my tube without mishap, lay the fish out on the bank with a tape, take the picture, release the fish, climb back in the tube and then go back out to where I was fishing. I can waste an hour of fishing time just to take a silly picture.

Great post and great pics! I'm thinking the cats will be coming on soon up here too...I'm betting we're about 2 weeks behind you guys up here in the North Country as far as prime cattin' goes.

Okay I see what yer sayin, no problem. I guess I do the same thing when I'm in the toon and that's easier than a tube would be. Just used to the bank and boat cattin lately where I have my board right there for fast easy pics. It's a chore to get a picture of the big fish since your arms aren't long enough to get a picture while you hold the fish from flipping back in the pond. Hope you get some fish that are worth the hour of down time. Later J

I was going to try and hit the Colorado River today but it looks like sprin runoff has started so the river will be poor fishing for the next couple of months. Hopefully I will be able to get out Monday.

the run off needs to start here noticed there is less water in the sp fork river since the first, they must be filling the canal.
