Deer Creek afternoon surprise
#1
I went to DC this afternoon thinking that maybe I could catch a trout or two. I was pleasantly surprised when I got a walleye throwing jigs and working it back slowly on the Walsburg arm of the lake. It was only a 17 inch fish, but any walleye is gold to me. This only the second eye for me in the Walsburg arm of the lake. I am thinking they are moving in close for pre spawn activity. I didn't get a water temp because I was on the bank. I'm guessing it is near 50 though. I drove all the way to starvation the day before looking for the eyes with no luck from the float tube.

They'll hang out there for a while. I remember catching several in the flooded brush in the summer time there while chasing smallmouth. Caught them on spinnerbaits, tubes, soft jerkbaits, all sorts of bassy lures. They can be more aggressive than people give them credit for.
