My son and I hit Willard this morning launching at the North Marina about 7:30, said hi to Old Coot at the dock as he was launching as well. headed out into the main lake and put two downriggers down as well as two planer boards. We fished till 2 and called it quits. lake was like glass and you guessed it the bugs were making their presence known. We ended up boating 17 wiper all in the 14 to 15 in. range and two walleye. One eye measured 20 1/2 inches and the other went 19. ran into Wyoguy and K2muskie at the dock on our way out, k2 had done well on the crappie. Nice day and got to try out the new Terrova, I think I'm going to like it just fine. Water temp was 52.7 at launch and 59 in the SW corner when we packed it in.[fishon]

Pete-
Looks like we missed you by a couple hours... We launched at 4PM and had to play catch and release starting at 5:30 because all 4 of us already had our wiper limit too! Couldn't find the eyes though, only one smaller one yesterday...Sounds like we both had a good day!

I really don't count 17 wipers and 2 walleye as a good day, if the numbers would have been reversed that would have been a good day.[cool]

Any day on the water is a good day for me! Plus, deep fried wiper is one of our favorite meals! Walleye is tasty too, but I will never turn down the fight or taste of a big fat wiper!

Didn't say they don't fight, just don't care for the taste. A lot of people like to eat slime rockets to but I don't care for them either.

Plus 1 on both counts. For eating fish, I much prefer walleye and kokanee, then perch and crappie. I rarely keep any other fish in Utah. I know in certain lakes the trout will have pink or orange flesh and I'll keep one of them on occasion. In the lakes I normally fish, it is rare that I ever keep a wiper or a trout.

The Terrova is a game changer. Set the AP on Willard, crack a cold one and watch the rod tips. Love it!

Good to see ya again Pete. It was my first trip of the season too.
We spent the majority of our day not catching fish. Towards the end of the day we ventured up into the tight combat crappie fishing zone but couldn't take the close quarters so we moved out a little further N-W and caught 5 crappie slow trolling crank baits. Also picked up 5 wipers. Lots of good eats for the weekend.
Boy, the wipers were all on the small side compared to last year! What's up with that?

Thanks, I have a Humminbird sonar/GPS coming that will tie into the built in transducer on the bow mount. This will be my first go around with a Humminbird so we will see how that goes.
