Strawberry Today - 4/11

We hit the ice here for the last time this season..it's been good, including today...some really nice cutts and 1 good bow landed, but very slow after 10:30, like Dregs said also...We put in at the Marina boat ramp, using my 5 ft. plank to cross to solid ice...no problem...Coming off at 2:30 with a 5 ft. plank? Problem...we searched back and forth for a bit, finally taking out by that last snow bank... my buddy got a little wet foot, but nothing too serious...A 10 ft. plank would now be required if anyone else is thinking of putting in anywhere near the Marina, or just wait 'til next season, and now only dream of those 18, 19, 20"ers you've been pulling out of that little hole, with your 3 ft. pole...Good run, now done...love the ice!...Guluk...

You need to get down to the warmer water and start catching some of the walleye, wiper , & crappie that are starting to take off. Waters levels are coming up along with the water temps, should be a good spring and early summer for fishing some of the warm water fishies.[cool]

Good to hear you made it back OK. For a while I kept hoping the ice would hold on for one more weekend. Now I hope we get a warm spell so it disappears quickly. No other place I've been is as consistently good as Strawberry.

Yeah, I was originally thinking of trying to hit it on Fri. or Sat. during one more of those 'low barometric pressure' days, but it's a good thing we at least went on Monday, sunny and warm, and absolutely no wind! -- and not nearly as many fish...I wouldn't even have gone back on Tues. with the edges going that fast...looking forward to the next ice season (Hey, I grew up in Wisconsin) and I'm ready to make that 50 ft cast on the soft water now...
