Watch This Flaming George once in a life time Catch

The 43” Lake Trout was got while my wife and I were fishing for Kokanee using Kokanee gear
[#333333]that is why it is such a great catch The Set Up was a Silver Dodger from TRUE BLUE TROLLING TACKLE a pink squid 1 1/2" long, with Two Snell hooks Gamakatsu Octopus Hooks size 2, tied with P line The small hook did not bend. Had this set up on a planer board The fishing line was hooked to a release, so when the fish hits will not fight the board. The Camera is about 3' from the dodger. the camera lens got something on it. It is down about 20 feet.[/#333333]
[#333333] It took about 40 min. to get him in the boat The water was 175 ft deep where he hit.He went down to 128 ft (I have a good Line counter real) and he did not move for 10 min. I would get him up 20' then he would dive again never going lower than 128'[/#333333]
I had two Cameras down one on the downrigger ball, (down 25') the other on the line hooked to the planer Board, The one on the down rigger did not see a lot of fish, the one on the planer board saw a lot.

Very nice video!
It appears to me that the big laker tried to swallow the dodger & was fowl hooked with the squid near the dorsal fin. If that is the case, it must of felt like bringing in a horse. Looks like a great day on the lake - congrats!

I think you are Right
That dodger may make a good lure for lakers just put a big hook on it.
He went right back in the water and took of with more life in him than I had.
At the end of the video did you see how long the kokes stated with the dodger.

Pretty cool stuff there. How fast were you trolling? I thought it was also interesting how many kokes were following in the second part. Thanks for sharing that!

After watching your video it doesn't really matter that the fishing was slow on Wednesday! That was fantastic.

Robert,
Wow, you got a fantastic video there. Six Kokes and a 43"Mac. And thanks for mentioning the name of my new business. It did look like that Mac hit the dodger first. Maybe we can make that into the next hot lake trout lure! What do you think Clark?
Wife and I are heading over to FG next week to try for some Kokes. It was sure interesting to watch them swarming around the squid. Why do you think the planer board got more action than the downrigger? Were you using scent?
I'll give you a call soon to see what you would like to field test next. Congratulations on a great fish, a great trip and best of all, a great video!

Great video, I really enjoyed watching it, Fred's dodger really has some action, almost made me dizzy watching it at work. Congrats on a nice mess of fish caught, I'm looking forward to some fresh kokanee.

That is awesome Robert! Funny thing is I caught that big rainbow last month on koke gear too, best "accidental" catch you might call it. Lots of big fish in the upper water levels right now that folks can catch without needing downriggers.

Wow ..... That is a lifetime experience Robert. I liked the video a lot showing the action and the Kokes response to it. I think you have that Kokanee fishing refined to perfection.

I don't think I have it to perfection, may be some day I think some times the fish don't like me.
I keep changing my trolling speed but 1.5 was the best.

I really like that you share that information with us. It is really to watch how the Koke's react to the lure under different speeds. It helps me visualize what might work and not work when I am up there next.
The lake trout was awesome to watch as well.. You can learn so much by taking video of your fishing adventures. I might have to invest in a camera myself.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing that amazing video. It was fun to that big fish come up and try to swallow the dodger. Nice that you released that big guy to swim again and keep spawning.
What area were you fishing for the Kokanee? They looked like some nice ones.
Congrats.
