Is it worth the drive? I'm located in lehi and every body of water is an hour from me. I have never fished it and want to take my 2 year old and 5 year old do the cat fish hang around or are pickyou eaters

I've taken my grandkids there a few times - never with much luck. The fishing is fine anywhere, but the catching is best right at the inflow. You'll know where that is because it's usually elbow-to-elbow there while the rest of the shoreline is deserted.

It's too warm now for planted trout, but you can also catch catfish, bluegill, and possibly bass there. Check the DWR weekly reports to see what's going on there now.

That has got to be the heaviest fished lake in Utah. I drive by it at least once a week and there are always lots of anglers lining the shore. As a community fishery, it is a huge success (at least for attracting crowds). I can't say how the catching is, but based upon my prior experience fishing it, I would guess that it is on the slow side. The word gets out, whenever the fish truck drops another load of fish, and it gets fished out very quickly.

To be honest I wouldn't recommend it for that kind of drive....right next to landfill so typically stinky. Always crowded.

I think you could find many other lakes or ponds that are better than Bountiful Pond. Some people love it, but never really been my thing. If you are looking in that area, I prefer farmington or Kaysville ponds.

Although it looks like 1900 13-14" catfish have been planted since 05/2616 so might be good for them...

Likely, 1895 of them have already been caught.

I live in Bountiful and have fished all these ponds mentioned...if I was taking kids I'd try Kaysville Ponds, and I'd try the second pond as you are heading North...phragmites has been cut again, so the shore is pretty much open all around...water depth about 8' max (toward the middle) so be able to cast power bait out quite a ways for your kids...should get some rainbows, maybe a catfish if you chuck a crawler...Guluk...

Bountiful pond has s maximum depth of about 12 feet. Yes you can catch fish there but it is not fast and furious. And yes it does get hit heavy.
