DAV weekend at soldier creek hot and so so satisfying
#1
went up to soldier creek Friday , fished solo at sc in preparation for the DAV event Saturday morning. i was on the water with lines out by 1 pm . the action was as hot and heavy as it could be with well over 20 kokes caught about 1/2 were very small with not many cutts in the mix boated the last fish at 6:30 pm. wow it should be red hot for our vets in the morning but not so fast. a weak cold front blew in leaving in it's wake awsome weather but fishing was noticeably slower managed to boat four nice kokes for my vet and his wife and about 8 really small ones with again only a couple of cutts mixed in. best color was orange and white rmt squid behind a fusion dodger. 45 to 55 feet was my best depth, i went back out in the after noon and got 4 more nice kokes and a few more nagging small ones , great weekend and thanks to WET1 and WIPERMAC for helping organize it and give me a chance to serve those who served us. and reminding me my problems are small compared what theses folks are struggling with, my vet said this is the one event that he most looks forward to each year.,thanks again to all who came out [Smile]

I took out 2 vets as well and they each took home a limit of kokes. I really enjoyed taking them and out and watching the Smiles on their faces keep getting bigger. I was in such a hurry yesterday morning that I forgot the camera, so I only got one picture. I went back out to the same spot this morning and we put 3 more limits in the boat by 1030. When I cleaned them there was only one female the other 11 were all males, thought that was kinda strange. The later in the morning it got the bigger the size got.We were at 48'-50' with other lines stacked 15' above.

I'm glad you did good , after having caught so many small sized kokes we hauled over to the berry side to give it a try for some better fish but hind sight being 20/20 it was a mistake , when I went back in the afternoon I found lots of larger more willing fish over by the dam .

Thank you for your support mtncat. without people like you and the other volunteers this event could never happen. It is the highlight of the year for therapy trips at the VA.
