I've had wipers on my list of fish species that I wanted to catch this year, and have made a couple of shore trips to Willard without any success. I had a little bit of time to kill after work yesterday so I went over to one of the local community ponds, and was surprised to see a kid pulling in a few wipers... Threw out my line, and sure enough, was able to catch about 8 wipers, with the biggest being roughly 8 inches and the smallest being about a minnow
. Looked at the stocking report while I was there, and found that they had stocked a few dozen wipers in the pond recently. I assume this is to control the population of some other kind of fish in there? Either way, never expected to get my first wiper (albeit a tiny one) at a community pond.
One last species to cross off my list for this year is tiger trout. anyone know of any places where a person without access to a boat can have a reasonable chance of success?
