Well its not official yet but Looks like the northern Team has Taken this years Catfishing Contest. We are the best[fishon]. [bobhappy][bobhappy]
OK I'm done bragging. It was really a lot of fun taking part in the contest. I do not normally fish for cats so it was a new experience for me. Never knew how big them whiskered fish could get and how hard they fight. I would like to Thank SkunkedAgain for all the work he did keeping the scores up to date and running this contest. While still running his farm. You all can count me in for next year.

Thanks Ahi, if I get some time today I'll get the results updated. We do need to do a final call for all entries to be input. Again the fishing dates are over just time to get the paper work entered now. I think the rules allowed an entry cushion so I'll reread them and see if we can wrap this up and get you guys some prizes. Nice season. Later J

Ahi, Congrats. I think you got the Cat contest this year. And that Walleye you caught up at Benson Marina looks like a real hog. I have caught a couple eyes further up the river past the Ballard Bridge put in, but none that big.

Hey Forest don't know if you noticed, but Bottomwatcher bumped Ahi down to number two even though he had 3 fish 30" or better.... but I haven't worked all the last updates yet, so it's non-official at this point... Later J

Can't stand a bragger.... The south team certainly didn't brag about winning last year... well not very much anyway. Actually, seems like we decided that bragging was not only acceptable but was encouraged cuz that's about the only recognition the contest could offer when the DWR nixed our intent to offer a new 2016 bass boat as top prize. The south would have taken the north like Grant took Richmond if we would have had fishable water... yeah, that's our excuse and we're sticking to it. You northern guys go ahead and brag while you can cuz next year...
Hey, six cats over 30 inches from the north is pretty dang impressive. I'll be the first to tip my greasy carp stained hat to ya. I agree, fun contest and Jeff has done a great job wrestling with scores. Can't wait 'til next year.
WATER... please, more water.

Yep this year was the tale of two half seasons, the south stormed off to a big lead early and it looked like the north wouldn't even break 30" at all, but then the season's turned and a couple on team north members really excelled in finding the hogs... Fun times even if I did get shut down early on size... I think my biggest fish was in May and it's been down hill since then for me...
I do have to disagree somewhat with you though as to being shut down, you guys are still rolling large number of fish every time you go out and we struggle to find many up north, well at least I have... I see you and Pat and company catching over a dozen a trip and I don't think I had one trip all year with that many fish, in fact I think 6 was probably a big night for me... Anyway we'll be hoping for your rainfall so you can return for another year of it next year... Hope you can make the banquet this year, even if you didn't take home top prize, number five isn't bad... Catch ya later Jeff

Will be hard for anyone to unseat BW this year. He has two incredible fish and one really big one so I think he has it wrapped up. Hope you had fun with it this year, I noticed you had bigger fish you didn't report but I hope you have had fun anyway. hope to see you at the banquet. Later J

No shame in the numbers you put up this year, congratulations on a great season for you and your team, you guys were incredibly tough and it may have been the lack of floatation that made the difference this year so let's try a rematch next year? Maybe I'll make it back into the top ten. Who knows maybe I'll even catch a 30"er. Hope you can join us for the banquet. I'll get a schedule out in the next week or so. Later J

Thanks Jeff for all you do to make the Catfish Contest a success. I will try to make it through the banquet this year and put some faces with the names. I usually only make two trips past Point of the Mountain each year. So far I have only made one!

Yes Tin Can Bottomwatcher bump me off with a monster 33 incher. No shame in being knocked down by a fish like that. But still a lot of fun. Like I mentioned I dont normally target cat fish. had a lot of nice fish here at the bird refuge I caught several 29 and even 30s I hope this is the norm and not just a fluke year. it was nice to just be able to dive down the street. I'm still learning a lot about the waters and fish up here. Just moved to Brigham 2 years ago. Was in Riverdale and since I don't like to drive much all I fished was PV and the south end of willard.
Yes that walleye was a nice fish and a surprise, caught him on an old chub minnow that I found in my last bag of crap meat.
Congrats Bottomwatcher I dont think anyone is going to top 94.5

The only two cats I caught this year were dunks out of the Colorado. Not all that big to help in the contest.

Way to go TEAM NORTH. Thanks for running the contest. It makes it fun to see what is caught throughout the state and compare the sizes of fish being caught. I always expect to see a monster come out of Utah Lake but not this year. I was lucky enough to catch some awesome fish and help out the team. The big fish were in this year, last year they never showed up, and I was pretty worried that someone had figured out how to target those big ones and had kept them, but they were back this year. I felt pretty guilty about my score because I didnt get out much( 4 times) when others fish a ton. thanks for all the possitive comments. On a side note I'm still trying to catch this fish again ( maybe next year)

Crazy how you thought it was better this year and I thought it was a lot worse. I wonder if the low water the previous years made my spots better then and now it's stabilized your spot has returned to normal. I really need to find a better spot I sure fished a lot more than four times. Well unofficial congratulations that was sure a nice bunch of hogs and thank you and Ahi for carrying team north. Later J

Hey that sounds like you and I both hate that drive. I hope it will be worth the effort and we will try and pick a spot close to the line so it's equal distances for both. It will be nice to put a face with a name and swap some tales. It's always nice to learn from each other and share a fun hobby. Hope it will be a great night for you. Thanks J

Hey Kevin I think every year is different for everyone and sometimes we get time to play and others we don't, but it's just fun to do it when we can. Glad you kept an eye on things even if you didn't get much time to take part. Next year will hopefully be better. Later J

BW_- Aaaa.... wait a minute, you go out "only 4 times" this year and haul in several over-30 inch cats and I go out 4 times a week and can't manage even one 30 incher?? Something ain't right here... This will be corrected next year.[crazy]
I had a blast fishing all year. Never fished for a slimmer all year as I have evolved into a committed cataholic. Those big cats will give a good accounting of themselves and it is always fun to wrestle with them. I caught a 33 incher for top cat in the contest a couple of years ago I can still remember the fight he gave me.
I congratulate you and the northern guys again. Great job. Now, next year......
