DWR fish stocking code abbrevation
#1
I've been wondering this for years and haven't been able to figure it out. When you look at the fish stocking report on the dwr https://dwrapps.utah.gov/fishstocking/Fish
There is some smaller lakes that have an abbreviation after them. Some of them are simple, for example cr is creek, N FK is north fork. Although some of them appear to be some kind of location marker that I can't figure out.
The following letters usually have a one or two digit number after them.
X
WR
GR
RC
A
BR
Z
G
U
P
DF

Then there are these letters used after locations sometimes.

BTN
BTS
NBS
TLM
GT

Does anyone know how to decode what these mean or how it signifies which location is where?

Most, if not all of those, are loose letter designations for the drainage the lake resides in. Each lake will be designated with a letter and a number. For instance, BR is Bear river drainage and Ruth lake is designated BR-40, Lily Lake is BR-11. Many smaller lakes in the Uintas (and elsewhere) do not have "popular" names and are designated only by letter and number; ie; BR-51. A few still may hold fish even though "nameless" and will still be occasionally stocked. There is some overlap and imprecision to the system. For instance, the Duchesne drainage uses "D" and "Z".

As for the specific letters, in perusing my DWR Uintas guides, G is Blacks Fork, BR is Bear river, X is found in Lake fork, Yellowstone and Swift Creek drainages, Z is in Duchesne, A is Provo, W is Weber.

I am pretty sure BTN is Boulder Top North, BTS is Boulder Top South, TLM is Thousand Lake Mountain, GT is Griffin Top. Not sure about NBS.

North boulder slope?

Seems the DWR just completely blew off stocking the Wasatch this year. Lazy slackers. Still time if they get off their butts.
