Strawberry update
#1
So I had the day off and wanted to try the new toys. Im still a little chicken when it comes to early ice, but ive been following updates and weather and decided to try Chicken Creek east. I was a good 50 yards from shore, fishing in 18 feet of water. The ice was a solid 5 inches of clear ice and another 1-2 inches of hardpacked frozed snow/slush. No snow on then ice, and no sleds or atv's on the ice either. People just used the sleds to move along the shoreline and to beat the horrible hike lol. All the fish i managed to ice were cuts in the slot, and were anywhere from 4-10 feet below the ice. I had some fish teasing my jig lower around 15 feet down. I cant say i found what they were crazy for. They hit wax worms on a ice jig, worm on a hook, garlic powerbait... a little of everything at times. But nothing consistantly.

Excellent! Thanks for the report! I've been toying with making the drive and it's good to know that it's getting good up there!
