FINALLY got away for a little fishing. I am not going to say when the last time I had the boat out eas because it has been so long I can't remember. Put in at HBSP around 9 am. Headed up river to do a little scouting with the electronics. Like I said it has been a long time, so I had no idea where the bass were. I noticed a bunch of boats in super shallow water. Not something I usually do this time of year but what do I know? I scanned a few main lake points and flats. Didn't really see the giant balls of bait fish I was looking for. I did do the bird watching thing but the fishing was really slow in those areas. I moved back down river and had 3 bites, swung and missed them. Man am I out of practice. Finally moved to a place where we usually catch a fish or two. Second cast on the gravel flat a fish crushed my lipless crank bait. Yep and this time I didn't take it away from him. Not a big fish but if I was guessing it was a hair over 3 lbs. I spent the rest of the day trying to run the old gas out of my boat. The weather was great for this time of year but it does make me wish Spring would hurry and get here. The only thing I got a bite on was the lipless crankbait. Water temp. was 47 degrees.
