I am gonna take my wife and granddaughter fishing tomorrow (Thursday). The fishing seems to be good a Rockport (Wanship). Haven't fished it in years. I will take the snowmobile to pull the gear out onto the ice. Where is a good launching point? Last time we launched from the boat dock. Is that still a good option? Also, we used to fish towards the west side in the deeper water. Still a good option? This will be their first trip out this year and I want them to have a good experience. Any starting suggestions would be appreciated. The last time I fished there was on New Years Day about 10 or so years ago. I caught 168 in a 7 hr period. Haven't been back since. That was a combo of trout and perch.

I was there yesterday. Walked on at the State Park Launch ramp. Edges were solid, and the ice was at least 6 inches of solid ice where I fished. There were some four wheelers going on and off the ice at the ramp.
Personally, the fishing was not good. I stayed in one place, about 40 to 50 feet deep, looking for Perch. Talked to some people when I walked off that had some luck shallower, but didn't sound like it was fast going. I fished from about noon to dusk.
Maybe others will weigh in with some more productive spots. Good luck! By the way, the bathroom at the launch ramp was open with flush toilets.

Took my wife, granddaughter and son today to Rock Port. Arrived around 8 a.m. Ice conditions were very good. Launched at the boat ramp and sledded across the lake to the West side. fished in 18, 30 and 40 feet of water. Nothing. Had a couple show up at the 15 ft depth. Wife got a solid hit while on the phone using a red starburst. Funny what will sometimes attract them. Didn't set the hook fast enough and so that was the only bite in that area. I ran the snow mobile around the lake around noon talking with everyone on the ice that would talk. The story was the same both to the South and on the East and West sides. Just a bad day of fishing. I stopped at a rock outcropping on the East side South of the boat ramp and buoys and hooked up with a couple of small trout in about 10 minutes of fishing. I drove back and picked up everyone and everything and we went back to the area, but I think I caught the only two hungry fish in the pond. We left at 1:30 and headed over to Kamas for some lunch. Although the fishing really "sucked", the company was good and a great time was had by all. Took the two small trout home and had them for dinner.
