Well, you gotta really want Crappie if you are planning to go fish Pineview. My ten year old son and I fished from about 5:30 to 9 last night.
There is about 16 in of snow on the entire lake with very little of it being strong enough to hold you on top. Under the deep snow there is about three inches of slush. With the deep snow insulating old holes you may find one with your foot, I found two. We post holed our way north of cemetery point to a spot I have gone each time. Certainly the worst walking conditions of the year.
We brought home one limit all caught on jigging spoons and a Perch pattern jigging rap tipped with bait. We would have to watch the sonar close and really work each fish into biting, but when they hit it was usually pretty hard. Probably could have stayed and caught more but my son has school and cleaning 40 fish takes a while.
Im worried it's going to create a real mess on the ice once it warms up a bit. I love fishing at Pineview but sitting in 10 inches or more of slush isn't fun at all.
