Myself and my department was called to help assist the local DWR officer with this bear lake monster today.......He still lives!!
This big boy was between the rockpile and ideal beach. Please be careful out there guys and stay off the rock pile for a few days still.....the ice isn't very thick or good yet. I'd hate to be responding to one of you in real trouble.

Ya, it survived, but it just layed there for a few hours from exhaustion. It was a bull that had lost its antlers. It was too heavy to pull out with ropes so we had to cut a channel for it about 200 yards long so that it could get into shallow enough water to climb out. It barely made it.

gmwahl around the campfire with the grandkids:
"Kids... have I ever told you about the 800 pounder that I released at Bear Lake?"
That was sure a lot of ice chopping to get to shore, but a critter that awesome is worth it. A noble deed and a fantastic post. Thanks for sharing!
