The marina got hammered and it's a zoo. The 150 south garden city beach access is a good spot to fish on the weedbeds in 20 feet of water and gets much less pressure. The pumphouse is good as well and people are catching fish there.

Just be careful, guys have fallen through the last two or three days straight. Ice conditions are not the best yet so use caution.

Ice off 150 south was good today. 4 good inches or so, ice was good all the way out to 60' deep. Saw guys out on the rockpile but we didn't dare chance it out there. Just about limited on Cisco in 20' of water then went out to 60' and found a few macs. Be careful, if you don't follow someone else's tracks drill holes often to check ice thickness.

If you don't mind me asking how late a was yout last trout that you caught that's kind of why I wanted to try the Marina wanted to try and catch some Cut Throat and watch for people till they started getting into the Cisco

Fished at 20' until noon then moved out to 60'. It was really good until 1:30 then seemed to die although a guy right next to us landed one as we were packing up at 3:30. If it were me tomorrow I would go deep first thing, if it's slow go back into 20' or so and fish Cisco, and the occasional white fish or trout, then head back deep around 11 or so. Cisco were hot and heavy from 8-8:30 until about 11. Marina looked packed with guys today but they had all the activities over there for the winter fest deal. I would like to know how the conditions on the rockpile were today.

I was among the crowd at the marina yesterday, it was good early for Cisco but when the big numbers of people showed the fishing went downhill. Never found a trout or whitefish but got 25 Cisco so it was a fun outing. Ice was good out on but I recommend being very careful where the trail drops off jetty onto the ice at the opening to the marina. There seems to be a current flowing out of there that it cutting the ice right away. It's really dicey so be careful or you'll get wet. Or get on the ice somewhere else. That's what I'll do next time. Later J

I went out this morning with Derek and his boy and caught 26 ciscos, but no trout or whitefish. I saw 2 trout caught by others...1 cutty and a 10 pound laker (funny thing, the lady called it a mackerel, but we know what she meant!). Lots of people on the ice and I'm sure that crowds have a detrimental effect on the fishing due to all the noise and vibration.

Great fishing with you again, Mike. No doubt that the crowds have an affect on the fishing success. Fun day even if it was a slow day. Hopefully we can do better next time- I thought for sure you would get your limit, Master Cisco Slayer!

Anyone know how the rockpile is looking?

They were fishing it Saturday, but I didn't go out due to warnings that it was still dicey on Friday. I imagine it's okay by now if you're careful and watch for the methane vents and springs that make thin spots in that area. Think I'll try it Friday. Later J

It was pretty slow fishing, but I caught a cutt that had 9 Cisco in its belly. Don't know why it was still eating at all but it did. I imagine things will slow down, but the run seemed to be ending so maybe in a week or so they'll put the feed bag back on. Good luck. J
