Rockport 2/4 Report
#1
Skunked! Never have me or my brother been skunked out ice fishing. Well today was the day. Got out to Rockport around 10 with my brother and his two kids, my wife, and my grandpa. Fished the East side of the lake. We were in 45, 35, 25, 15, and 10 ft of water. We were going after the perch originally except Grandpa. If its not trout or kokanee, its a waste of time to him. Not even a single bite on any ones line. Didnt know what to say except we probably should have kept heading on I-80 and went to Echo instead. But at least we can cross Rockport off the list. Ice was maybe varied 8-14 inches. Slush varied from none to maybe 5 inches. Edges were extremely soft. Made it out in the morning, but by the time we left the lake, those edges were awful. Bring a plank if your gonna fish the east side. All of us got wet on the edges, nothing to do about it. Bring a plank! Good luck, my recommendations...wave at Rockport and keep heading till you hit Echo. On a side not, on the way home we watched a group of bulls coming off the hill side to get something to eat with the horses. Bachelor group of 4 bulls. One had a good amount of rope around his antlers. There was already a small herd of elk with the horses. One horse in particular wasnt having those elk over for dinner and kept chasing them away. Was pretty cool to watch.

I normally kill it at rockport. Only a single fish today. The pressure from the storm front really messes with fishing

Fished the west side of the lake today , tried all depths and methods. Not a single fish.

Better luck next time
