A friend and I went to Echo, arrived just before sunrise, truck said 5 deg, the edges were solid on the east side; but don't be fooled! They look thick, but were only 3". About 50' off shore or so and the ice was 10", so that was fine. Caught 35 perch between the two of us in 37' of water, mostly 6-8"ers during 3 hours. Had a few trout come by sniffing our second rods, but didn't want to play. They were 12-20' under the ice. Left a little after 11am, 23 deg and there was a sharp north wind that kept things cold. Maybe only have a little more time to try Echo, but use extreme caution! Keep a throw line and hand spikes readily at hand just in case. Be safe, be prepared, and good luck fellas!

Did you get on near the marina? Just south of there on the corner pull off the ice was much better back on Tuesday. I hope it lasts a bit longer. We were quite cautious last time we went. The ice was pretty good though.... surprisingly. Hope it does't all rot with this sun this week. We'll see...

We got on the ice about 30 yards to the north of the boat ramp. If the cold overnight temps stay around, might get another week, but the ice can change over a days period from fine to fatal. Check it carefully as you mentioned and stay safe!
