Fish lake in the am...first timer help
#1
Headed to fish lake first thing tomorrow morning. Never been before. I have all the gear needed and a 4 wheeler. Looking to target macks then perch if we dont have success in the first couple hours with macks. Looking for info as to where on the lake to try and set up. Have navionics chip but the contour info for the lake is minimal. Can any experienced fish lake anglers help me out? Please pm me if u want!

PS...all macks over 7lbs will be released

I grew up down in that country, but have never ice fished, Fish Lake. However, I do keep track of most the posts involving my old stomping grounds. In hopes it might help you, and the fact that no body has responded, if I were you, I would drive all the way through the store/lodge facilities. Lake Side, the Fish Lake Lodge and then past Bowery Haven. Just past Bowery there should be a sign identifying "Joe's Bush." That will probably be the best spot for you to access with the 4 wheeler. I would look for old holes out a couple hundred yards or so to target mack. Perch can be found anywhere along the shore. There is a moss line that runs along the shore out to about 50 to 100 yards. That's where the perch hang. Again, just look for old holes to target the area. Warning! With another storm rolling in, it could be extremely windy out there, and you could lose your shelter or gear. Good luck! Hope this helps.

Imagine you took an axe and swung it into a soft piece of wood at an angle about 55 degrees to the surface and removed the resulting divot and filled it with water. That's Fish Lake, there's not much need for a contour map.

We ended up leaving the house an hour later than expected. With the high winds and incoming storm we decided to cut our drive in half and ended up at strawberry instead. Thanks for the advice..i will make it down there one day!
