A group of us went up to the Uinta's and snowmobiled into Whitney Reservoir Saturday. It was nice to meet some BFTers. dubob, wyoguy, skunkedagin, utahguy, muskyon46 and any more that I forgot. In all we had 10 sleds and all caught fish. Weather was good other than the wind. Ice was another adventure. 2 feet of snow and1 foot of slush with more snow then more slush. Then about a foot of ice. Wow! We had to use an ion blade, a strike master extension and a drill to get holes punched. Was a great time guys. Thanks everyone for a great time.

Hey it was great to meet you and that was an adventure for sure... Was by far the thickest ice I have ever tried to fish... Although it was full of multiple slush layers, we figured there was about 5 feet of ice slush layers before you got to real water... I ended up plunging my drill into the water on my nils then re-thinking and putting my hand handle on it and busting a hole in the top ice & slush layers to where I could keep running my auger under the water surface until my arms were up to my elbows under the water surface before I got my first hole through the ice... it was crazy... Fishing was kind of slow considering how skinny the fish were, I figured they would eat anything you dropped down the hole, but they were sort of picky... I only ended up with 5 fish on the day, but it was great to meet all of you guys and the snowmobile ride was a lot of fun, at least the part where we weren't pulling sleds behind... I ended up breaking up the smitty and my tail light on the sled and Wyoguy's sled ended up with trouble on the way out but it was still a lot of fun... got to run, more stories later... J

[#800000]Sorry to hear about your problems coming out. We had our share as well. Gear thrown all over the trail 3 times. Boxes falling off. Eye bolts straightening out. But hey, it WAS a great adventure with some great folks. Lets do it again next December - BEFORE the snow gets so damn deep. Might even be able to drive our trucks clear up to Trail and Washington lakes for some nice brookies.[/#800000]

That was really fun to accomplish that trip but towing stuff is certainly the hard part. We tried a shortcut on the way out and it ended up getting us in stuff that was too steep to be hauling gear downhill when we had to turn around and go back to the long way out. Got a few pictures of the crew. I know Matt got a lot better ones, but here are a few. Later J

Driving our trucks would be a lot more comfortable, but hell Bob, where's your sense of adventure? Most of us really aren't set up to pull our ice gear 13 mi. one way to fish. Over all it was a fun trip, got to meet some new people and caught some fish. Great day!
