I haven't posted lately but thought I would share.
Other than ice fishing this is my next favorite time of year to fish. I love fishing for walleye right after the spawn. The shoulder to shoulder warriors are gone and other than the few early white bass seekers there is not to many people around. Last week started off good but the weather really shut things down. I figure last night would be a good night to go with the warmer temps and all. I choose to hit a spot where the inlet had warmer water than some of the others and it paid off. there was a fair amount of pre spawn white bass and I happened into a nice channel cat. Even though the fishing was good they were not my target species. I continued to wade though all the tugs on the larger jig trying to keep it out of the mouth of the numerous whites. the slow retrieve bounce the bottom and the countless time moss had to be removed from the hook. It all paid off with 3 nice walleye and a 4 lost one. The largest was 25 and the other two right around 23.
The water level is coming up more everyday and it looks like its going to be a great year for the fish to spawn. You carp arches best be ready as they are all over the south end of the lake and just moving into the weed lines and shallows on the north end. Crappie guys, there are lots of crappie right up against the weeds in the shallows that are just starting to turn on.
Over all it looks like it could be a great year!
