Question about Lake Maps for Fish Finders
#1
I have recently upgraded to the the Helix SI series, I am looking at getting the Humminbird Lakemaster maps but I am afraid the detail on the lakes around here will not be worth the investment. I know flaming gorge will be good but other local lakes will lack in detail. Navionics maps are that way and I am afraid Lakemaster will be similar. Does anyone have any experience with Lakemaster maps? How are they for local lakes? Worth the investment? Thanks

At this link it says there is a High Definition survey for Pineview but I can't give you any first hand info:

There are only a few maps with good detail in our area. My helix came with the Navionics and on most bodies of water there isn't much detail. The cool thing is that the helix will let you create your own maps, its called autochart. It has a feature to record as you drive around in your boat, you then plug it into their software and it gives you an awesome contour map you can load back into your helix. The software is $99 to $250 depending on which version you go with. It makes it really easy to get the GPS locations off any map you make and seems to be more accurate than the lake master and Navionics maps.
