Pineview Perch?
#1
Have Thursday off and thinking of heading to Pineview, not for crappie but for perch.
Used to catch some real nice ones up there many moons ago and would just like to re-live some old memories.
Anyone have any recent success stories they care to share?
PM's also welcome.

Shane, I've been on the pond up north, but I've been able to cruise around a little with the ff on and have found the perch on the bottom each time, just looking for the slight difference in color on the bottom, it's not indicating like a fish usually does, but a different color right at the surface of the bottom and when I stop on top and drop a lure the bottom blossoms up with fish running up to check out what I'm offering... Pretty sure you can do the same thing a PV... Like I have said, I love the new finder, it really helps put me on top of those little buggers... Nice they are getting up to 11" this year, it makes it a lot more fun... Good luck and have fun...Sorry no PV info to offer... Later J

I was at PC on Wednesday last week. Was looking for crappie, found lots but they were fasting. Did see one boat catch about 6 perch. Try just around the boat launch and docks and around the point heading toward the dam. About 15 to 20 feet of water. Lets us know..

I was hoping those perch you caught were from Pineview.....
Sounds like you are having fun with your new machine, you are going to have a blast with it on the hard deck.
Ever been to Fish Lake on the ice? With a machine like yours, you can be perch fishing and then when a trout moves through you can sniper them off right above the 'perch line'.
In soft water, I like to find perch using your method. Another very effective method is to bottom bounce a crawler harness until you find them, Spot Lock your boat, and drop Hali jigs on them.

I think some of the reports I've seen are showing even better sized perch coming from PV. If it wasn't such a long drive for me I'd be trying there for sure. That Marcum has like you predicted been a game changer for my perch fishing. I didn't think there would be near as much difference as there is, but it sure is nice.

I'd like to try fish lake sometime, but it's a long haul for me and if I'm going that far I usually opt for the gorge, Henry's or Strawberry. Since I haven't ever tried it, I don't really know what I'm missing. Seems like it could be a fun place to go fish and hunt in the same trip.

Don't know what it takes to get the crappie to start the fall feeding frenzy but usually the fall crappie bite is pretty good if you can find the fish. You may get to the View tomorrow and have an excellent day if both species would decide to bite. Guess I'll be getting ready for the banquet or else I'd like to join ya. Got the day off for Veterans Day so it would have been fun. Still watching Henry's close for Friday, but probably be too thin of ice still. Guess I'm kind of looking for a chance to try the machine from the hard deck. Well best of luck and hope you have a great day!!! Later J

Shane, I fished PV last week fished from docks at port ramp all the way across to Browning point, never a time there weren't tons of fish on the screen. Fish were suspended at all depths and some on bottom, however, as someone mentioned, they were fasting. K2 fished just off Browning on bottom and caught some perch, so I joined them and caught some as well. they caught some decent perch, I only caught dinks, but there were plenty of fish around. 45 fow worked that day.

Yep what Gary said marked fish through out column. We did get some nice Perch out deeper though shallower smaller. They Perch liked movement on bait. We didn’t tip bait at all. Was a great time and can’t wait for ice up.

Oh I’m on iPhone typing this so hopefully kentofnsl isn’t Confused...[laugh]
