FOUR FEBRUARY HUNTER EDUCATION CLASSES SCHEDULED IN LINCOLN AREA



Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has scheduled four hunter education classes in the Lincoln area during February.

Nebraska state law requires anyone 12 years of age or older, born on or after Jan. 1, 1977, to have successfully completed a state-certified hunter education course prior to hunting with a firearm.

The first class will be at Raymond Central High School, Feb. 17, 23 and 24, 6 - 9:30 p.m. Students must attend all three sessions to become certified. Preregistration is required.

The second class will be at the Hunter Education Building, Nebraska State Fair Grounds, Feb. 28 and 29, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Students must attend both sessions to become certified. Preregistration is required.

The third class will be at the Hunter Education Building, Nebraska State Fair Grounds, March 19, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., March 20 and 21, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Students must attend all three sessions to become certified. Preregistration is required.

The fourth class will be at the Hunter Education Building, Nebraska State Fair Grounds, March 27 and 28, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Students must attend both sessions to become certified. Preregistration is required.

Students must be 11 years of age to be certified by instructors. Those younger than 11 may attend, but will not be tested or certified. There is no maximum age limit for students and no charge for the course. Interested parents of youngsters taking the class are also encouraged to attend.

People living in Lancaster, Douglas or Sarpy counties who want to register for a hunter education class may now do so on the Commissions web site at www.outdoornebraska.org. From that home page, click on NGPC Programs, then on Hunter Education, then on Firearm Hunter Education, then on Available Classes, choose the class you want to attend and click on “Enroll in Class.”

Those without internet access or who live in other counties may contact Tiffani Gerber at Game and Parks Commission Headquarters, 471-5558, to register.
