2017 fishing recaps
#1
Last month I finished my last fishing trip of 2017. I won’t go fishing until it’s getting warm and usually be February.
This year I made some new attempts:
First time to throw a topwater frog on the water, several bites end up only 1 successful landed. Goal for next year is to give the other shapes frogs a serious try.
I posted my first thread on this forum and would be glad to see your fishing reports, tips or anything related to fishing on this forum.
And I got my new PB smallie weigh to 5.2 lb. It’s caught on a hair jigs I tied myself.

Which fishing trip impressed you most in 2017?
Thanks to bigfishtackle and Runcl fishing gears store!!! And thank you to all who watched this thread!!

That's an impressive smallie! I didn't have any PB's this year but I did make some incredible maps for my favorite lakes. It really helped in the hot days of summer to locate the fish. I went to Lake Fork in the spring and caught some giant bass and crappie. It was an awesome trip.
My goals for next spring are to throw more swimbaits and fine tune some new set ups that I have for bigger baits.
November of 2018 I am going to Baccarac, Mexico to go bass fishing so I'll be gearing up for that all next year. I'll have to go through my pics and see what I have for some of my better fish this year.

After a year living in the south a few old boys gave me a few tips on locating them here. A whole lot different then fishing northern waters. My best day was when we had a hurricane 200 miles off shore. Pushed the barameter really low, but no rain. I did nothing but pull in bass and bowfin all day long. I haven't had anymore days as great as that but you know I'll be watching for more hurricanes. Next year I hope to hook up with some of these stripers in the river. Just have to pray they let the water out of the dam to bring water height up. Never happened last spring. March 1 can't come soon enough.Have a Merry Christmas to all fishermen and women.Welcome to the site Lawrence 996
