Valentines Present in So Cal.
#1
Fall in love, steelhead are coming to Santa
Ana River Lakes for Valentine's weekend

For the first time this season, steelhead will planted this week and
next week
at Santa Ana River Lakes. Tons of steelhead!

These pink-meated, hard-fighting trout are arriving just in time for
Valentine's
Day weekend at SARL, so bring out family and fall in love with one of
the
scrappiest gamefish in North America.

The steelhead will join the regular Mt. Lassen Trout Farms trophies in
the
lakes' complex, and the rainbow trout action hasn't been too shabby.
Over the
past two weeks, there have been 38 trout better than 10 pounds landed.
The best catch was made early last week when Kevin Stammer of Garden
Grove
caught four rainbows that weighed in at 63 pounds total fishing with
jigs
covered with Crave Nitro Grease at the Bubble Hole. Stammer's best fish
was the
top fish of the week at 21 pounds, but he also had rainbows at 17, 15
and 10
pounds.

John Chapman of Yorba Linda had an 18-pounder, while Mark Reed, Orange,
landed a
16.9-pound trout. Samantha Gray, Anaheim, had a 16.1-pound trout, while
Holly
Gray, also Anaheim, landed a 14.9-pound trout. Kevin Roe, Chino Hills,
caught a
15-pounder.

The best action continues to be on floating baits like Crave Nitro
Dough in
rainbow and chartreuse, small lures like Kastmaster, Rapalas, or
Roostertails,
and tiny jigs doused with Crave Gravy or Grease and fished on light
line.

Anglers can fish Santa Ana River Lakes from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day
passes, or
from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these passes costs
$18 has a
five-fish limit. During trout season, 24-hour fishing will be allowed
on Friday
and Saturday night once a month on full moon weekends.
