A couple of us took off this morning to fish Forsyth Reservoir. We got there and there was a couple of guys ice fishing. No place for a float tube so we headed over to Mill Meadow, same story, no open water so off we went to Otter Creek. We didn't get there until 11:00 and only fished until 2:00 but were able to salvage the day and actually catch a few fish in the process. I always take a picture of my first fish of the day because I never know when it may be the only fish of the day.[:/]
We launched near Tamarisk Point and fished in 12' - 25' of water using both medium and fast sinking lines and crystal buggers in sizes 6-8. The visibility in the water was only about 3' so it helps to use flies with some flash to get their attention. The water temperature was 37 degrees and the reservoir is 77% full and rising.
The weather was great with temps in the 40's & 50's and very little wind until just before we left. We ended up missing about as many fish as we caught so the fishing was not too bad. There were a few shore anglers but there weren't any boats out yet.
We might have to take the auger with on our next trip but I hate sitting 9 1/2' away from the hole.[
