OK, I'm back. My son and I are heading to our place in Curtis tonight with walleye on our minds, well his might actually be on the new Madden XBox game.

Anyway, the glo ice jigs haven't faired any better for me than any other jig even at night. I have caught as many fish on chartruese heads as the ice glo.

It is cool to watch the bait descend with a glow, but even better if they ascend with the glow coming out of the lips of an eye.

[Wink] My tackle box glows when the lights are out , lol !!!! 80% of the time I use something that glows , but when there in a negative mode , a bare hook is best , and in some murky lakes , the gold lures works for me !!! Now this is icefishing I'm talking about , not open water !!!

I've heard a lot of people say that using glow-jigs have led to many more catches for them, especially in low-light or murky conditions. They say it helps the fish locate it better and that the fishes curiosity alone is enough to draw it close enough to see that tasty morsel on the hook.

What you do with presentation and actually getting them to bite is all up to you after the glow draws them in.

I use alot of glow jigs for panfish. I prefer the "Moonglow" white with either a red dot, or a green dot on it. Perch really love them, but bluegills, and crappies take them also.

Always remember, if not using electronics, to vary your depths to check for suspended fish. As a kid, I was always taught that the best bite was somewhere between 6-10 inches off the bottom. That can ring true alot, but sometimes you need to change your tactics.

I use these jigs almost everytime out on the ice, but have had to change over to flashier jigs as conditions dictated.

Yeah lonehunter, I'll be out on the ice, but I don't have one of those hooksafe thinga majiggy's...lol.[Wink] I'll just have to wait til next season. One of my buddies on Realtree website told me about the Field & Stream freebies, so I clicked into your site. I like what I see, and now I'll be makin' it a habit[crazy].. Take care, and I hope you get a big walleye...when I jig for them, I usually use an 1/8 ounce or smaller, unless I'm in really deep water. You gotta love them jigging rapala's with a fathead or small lake shiner on the bottom treble too. Around here, (Wisconsin), the color that seems to work best on rapala's in the winter, or after ice out, seems to be the blue. I get alot of walleyes on the firetiger too. And, you can't forget the crayfish color, in the summer.

Only one more weekend to ice fish til big game fish season ends around here. And, I'm heading north with my wifes cousins to the Nekoosa dam to do some river fishing in their boat. After a full day of catching tons of smaller walleyes, it will be nice to relax for a couple of days afterwards. We always end up with a few in the 19 or 20" range though. Good eating!
