Hi All,
My buddy Sage and I , along with his son Jaken, hit Jordanelle this morning. The wind had been forecast at 5 to 10 mph out of the north. When we got there it was more like 15 to 20 out of the north! It was bad enough that we decided to fish down in the Rock Cliff arm for awhile, and somewhat out of the wind that was blasting down the main channel. Sage picked up a couple of browns there, and Jaken caught one (1st pic). Then Jaken surprised us all with a fat 11"ish smallmouth bass. I lost a decent brown at the boat, and got one more smack in the same area, and that was the end of my action for the day. In my defence, I was chucking big baits most of the day looking for quality over quantity [

Later we went up the main channel, but the wind was still cranking, making boat control difficult. I swear that I spent more time trying to control the boat, than I did fishing. Sage got hot here, and put another 7 browns in the boat. Jaken came through again with another smallie too (pic 2) Both bass looked like they'd been eating quite well. Looks like they're starting to push up shallow bass guys! Water temp was 40 degrees.
Suddenly the wind calmed down and it was nice for about ten minutes, then it started cranking out of the south, and brought the rain with it. We decided to call it a day around 11 AM, but when I tried to start the motor...... dead battery! So we had to pull one of my trolling motor batteries out of the well, and use it as a starter battery. We were all quite relieved when the motor fired right up, as we were still a pretty good distance from the ramp. Still a fun day! Fred K.
