Hi there aquaman,

You know I just gotta make a squawk here too. 90+ is a big fish anywhere but the Kiwi's are right! Their 115 pound world record rules. The New Zealand or sometimes called the southern Yellowtail, as opposed to the Asian Yellowtail (Japan), is the same exact ssp as the 'California' yellowtail. Honest!

The number of spines on this and rays on that are the same on both fish!!!!! it's just that California guys chew on dogs, chili fries and burgers while the Kiwi guys eat steak every day!

Check out the Aussies spearfishing records for yellowtail 105 pounds! Boy would I love to be snorkeling and spear a 105 pound yellowtail! NOT!.
