Took my grandson fishing for his last day of summer vacation. Should have gone to the Rock Cliff area, as suggested by some here. But went to Hailstone instead. Launched my Hobie from the PWC ramp and pedaled over to the west bank. Found lots of trees in the flooded trees, but grandson was more adept at catching trees than fish. After going through considerable tackle and retying time, I searched cleaner bottom inside the No Wake line. Found grundles of suspended fish, none of which were hungry, apparently.
Finally let him troll a small chatterbait, on which he got a solid strike. He had trouble handling it and handed me the rod. Nice cutt, which he wanted to take home. Discovered that the Hailstone cleaning station has no outlets for a 110v electric knife unless you have a long extension cord. Used backup knife.
He had a great time, I got in a little exercise and never wetted a line. I had never fished Jordy before. Next time, I'll try the Cliffs for some perch and smallies.
