Since I have not read any reports on Mantua recently, I decided to give it a try today and report my findings. Not many people on the ice. Edges were solid, nothing to worry about there. Got to one of my previous spots, drilled holes and started fishing. Was in 15' FOW. Saw nothing on the finder. Started jigging away to attract fish. Didn't take long before I had some visitors but no takers. Switches from my Hali to a ice fly, to a chartreuse rasto, then to a lindy jig. Used spikes, waxies and finally Meal worms. Ended up doing the best on a hali with meal worm. Took a lot of coaxing, but I finally convinced 7 perch and 3 sun fish to come to dinner. The best bite was around 9:45 a.m. an 10:15 a.m., 5'-10' down, then the fish basically left. The wind picked up and I started to freeze. So basically a slow day for catching, meal worms worked best, and it was cold enough that I didn't move around to see if fish were more active else where! Not sure how others did on the lake to day!
