Well my first 2 trips to the gorge on the ice didn’t go as I had hoped. Ice fishing is a sport of patience which is actually what I love about it, it’s good for the soul but anyway on the 24th I took the 280 mile round trip out to the anvil draw area. Fished in 100’ and marked fish quite regularly at the bottom. They would swim up to my lure check it out for a second and drop back down. Had one bite all day long but using a lure about 10” long I can only image what the fish looked like that took that bite!? On the 28th I trekked out there again got there early in about 85’ of water instantly marked fish and had a bite on my first drop down followed by 2 more when I hit the bottom. The day went on with 2 more bites all coming when I wasn’t expecting or when I didn’t have the pole in my hands! I’ve seen monsters come out of that lake and I know I had chances at them but soon I hope to pull one out to be proud of!!

Sorry about you lack of success, were you just after big fish or would you have been OK with smaller fish? I've had decent success there fishing in 80 FOW near contour drops, if you don't have a contour map, my advise is to buy one, they are well worth the money. Also in addition to glow tube jigs I've had fair success using a buckshot lure, the noise the make help draw the fish in. Hope you do better on your next trip.

Yes I was targeting the monsters that dwell within the lake so I understand that it’s not an easy task to get on them but I do have a contour map app and was going off of that. I will have to try something that rattles next time and see if that ups my chances! Thanks for the advice!

T-Boz, I would love to hear more about what App you are using! I have a fish-n-map, but had a hard time getting GPS coordinates from the map into my iPhone...
I plan on being a regular at FG in the coming years so I will glean as much information as I can!
Thanks in advance!

It’s called navionics. You can trial it for like a week or something then it’s $15 to buy it. It allows you to set up a section of map to download for offline use I really like it. Look it up in the App Store.
