Beach or pier fishing near state park pier

I recently purchased condo on the beach in Myrtle Beach near the state park pier and need to know if buying tackle for beach /surf fishing is worth the effort due to lack of structure etc . , or better off focusing on pier fishing. Also, what tackle would be best for both (rods, reels , line, setups, etc.. Thanks.[reply][/reply]

Welcome to the site. IMO beach /surf fishing is worth the effort, it matters not that there is no structure. The problem is you just never know if you will catch fish but that can be said with all fishing. As far as rods, reels , line, setups, it is hard to make those recommendation for your area but you should be able to go to your local bait and tackle shops and get plenty of help. Good luck.
