I wouldn't go to Good Hope on that week...it will most likely be really muddy with lots of floating debris--logs and sticks--that could damage a prop.

If I were in your shoes, I would head for the Escalante or the San Juan.

I was there last week, the discolored water in the main channel extended South as far as Forgotten Canyon, not muddy, but discolored. The farther North you go the dirtier it will get.

I was in Good Hope on April 15th and the fishing was pretty good in Red Canyon and in Ticaboo for walleye. But, the runoff has started and the lake is rising. That means that the mud line will extend further south. When I was there, the water in Ticaboo and Red Canyon was ok but the mud has extended clear to the restrooms now.

I would pose your questions and look at Wayneswords.com. for more information. But, I personally would not head to Good Hope now until the runoff ends and the water begins clearing.

I do check Wayne’sWord . I think I’ll head the Escalante river Arm . Never been there . What area would be a good place to start and set up a camp ?

Good question! I haven't been there in this low water, so I don't know. But, from what I understand there are a lot more beaches and camping areas than other years. I would just head towards the back, look for stained water, and find a good place to camp. From there, I would just start employing the same tactics you always use for walleye in the same areas you typically like to target them. From what it sounds like, the San Juan arm is loaded with smallmouth. If nothing else, you should be able to knock the crap out of the smallies back there!

I think I’ll try Escalante and do what you said find stain water and set up camp and fishing . In 7 days I should be able to figure it out.

Today's WW report (posted minutes ago) says the lake is rising two feet per day with an inflow of 64,000 acrefeet a day!

Recent fishing reports said water visibility in Good Hope and a lot farther south was zero - VERY muddy.
