Strawberry 12-22
#1
Took a drive up to strawberry hoping for fishable ice. Passed Mud Creek on my way to the marina, looked to be about 25 or more tents scattered around the channel. Got to the Marina around 9am, temp was 15 degrees. A few other groups had setup off the launch and in the back of the bay. Found my way out and tired a few different spots. Ice was anywhere from 2-4 inches and making lots of noise and slick in spots. Once I found a good spot fishing was fast, stopped counting pretty quick, but I guess easily over 20 in about 4 hours 3 hit the tape at 21 inches but no slot busters and only one 18 inch rainbow, the rest were slot cuts. Fun to see them hit right under the ice. I was using both tube jigs and small ice flies, both produced about the same.

Sounds like a total blast... I love fishing clear ice so you see the fish under the ice on the way up... Thanks for the report... Jeff

Thanks for the report. How where the roads down to the Marina?

The roads are plowed but they are really rough. Like driving on a rough dirt road without the dust.
