Canyon Lake & Upper Guadalupe River Guide Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 57 degrees; 909':

Largemouth are very good in 4'-8' of water using pumpkin/chart Snap Back lizards (www.canyonlakefishing.com) on Texas rigs, Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) & pumpkin/chart. Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com)
rigged wacky style on a 3/0 "K" Wacky Hook (www.falconlures.com). Upriver, the water is a bit off-color due to recent rains but spawners are still on shallow flats on the inside of channel turns where Gulp Worms,
Rat-L-Traps and white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits work best.

Smallmouth are very good on chartreuse 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten spinnerbaits (www.canyonlakefishing.com), a Sliding Weight Crawfish Jr. (www.slidingweight.com) and Yamamoto rootbeer/red Hula Grubs (www.canyonlakefishing.com)

Stripers are poor to slow.

White Bass very good on Spoiler Shads, white grubs, Tiny Traps and #3 white Terminator In-Line spinners.

Crappie are improving in 12'-20' on live minnows, red/blue/chartreuse Mini-Tails and white Curb's crappie jigs.

Guadalupe Tailrace & Blanco River rainbow trout: Very good. Catches of limits reported taken using 1/16 oz. In-Line spinners, red or pink Berkley trout bait or eggs and some fly patterns.
