Jordanelle 3/9/24 More Fun and a little frustration (with Video Clip)
#1
Most of the fun was catching trout, most of the frustration was with the video not having sound again.

Here is a link to a video clip (sorry about the silence) of a 2 1/2 pound rainbow that jumped at least 7 times:
Probably can't see it on a phone but it shows up pretty well on a computer.

Jon and I made another visit to Jordanelle on Saturday 3/9. Much different trip, but similar results to last time. Air temp on arrival was 12 degrees...even colder than in February...but it warmed up nicely and more quickly. Water temp was 36. All the fish were taken trolling at 0.7 to 1.1 MPH on different offerings tipped with crawler pieces.

Differences:

We weren't the first boat on the water, there were 3 already when we got there and about 3 times as many boats as last time.

Equipment trouble kept us from launching for almost an hour.

We spent more time looking for Kokes and more time looking for perch.

We caught fewer fish overall

We got 3 species of trout and no kokes.

Ice edge was another hundred yards or so up river from the no wake buoys.

Similarities:

We got 6 rainbows over 16 inches and caught 4 or 5 smaller ones for each keeper.

There were good numbers of fish up near the ice edge

Even after 3 successful tests at home, on the lake the video camera recorded the whole outing with no sound ?

We got 3 species of trout: Rainbow, Brown and what looked like it might have been a tiger, but it was released before we got a really good look.

We had a great time and learned more about the lake. I got a nice bow that went airborne at least 7 times.

Probably won't go back for quite a while though, too many things starting to happen closer to home!

Sounds like a nice trip nonetheless. Sorry you didn't find any kokes or perch, but anytime you don't go home skunked can be considered a good day.

Seems they are letting more and water out of the reservoirs making room for the snow melt to begin these next few nicer days we have coming up. By the weekend it looks like it's going to be wet once again.

Thanks for the reply. It was a good trip. I was just disappointed with the video failure because a beautiful clear day with snow around the lake makes for really nice video. Have you been out lately?
