on my way to Flaming Gorge
#1
not sure why.
last year 2 of us could bring 16 kokanee home if you fish two days, this year looks like we can only bring 6 home.
so  looks like the first day you fish for big Lakers next day get your 6 kokanee and come home.  I don't like fishing for the little Lakers
about the same as fishing for cuts at strawberry  another bad thing is it  cost $40 to fish the WY side
Last year it looked like the kokanee were coming back, this will be my first trip this year last year I think I had 10 days by this time

Robert,

If you are wanting to catch kokanee for the table, we are getting more and more venues right here along the Wasatch Front.  The terrible conditions at the Gorge are spoiling it for a ton of folks.  Increased license costs, decreased limits, travel time, increased cost for lodging and restaurant use make it a no go for many of us.  I can visit several water bodies within an hour of my house, catch a 4-fish limit of kokanee, and be home in time for lunch.  Seems like a no brainer to me.  But hey, if that makes you happy, then by all means, go for it.

I usually do the turn & burn to the Gorge in one day. I fished the Gorge once last year with some disappointment but not empty handed. All I'm doing now is rehabbing from a knee surgery and now a back injury, my other knee surgery is in June. Here I get to sit waiting for progress reports from the lakes surrounding and saving $$$$'s. Its a bad time of the season to go thru all of this but it has to get done. All I can say is keep the fish porn coming and tease me.  Wink I'm wishin' I was fishin'  Sad

What? All the fish I bring home to eat are FREE! Taste better than Costco fish too, much fresher. The boat, gear, tackle the motor gas and time are expenses for the trip and my good health, enjoyment and sometimes relaxation ! Trips that I MUST go on!
The fish are a pure bonus and therefore free!!
Well that’s what I tell my wife!! Luckily I think she agrees!!??

may not be to many that come back and reed this but
we only fished that one day came home the same day Tue.
so we started fishing for big Lakers they weren't where we stopped,
so went after Kokanee WY. side first stop no kokanee so moved
north.   next stop took us 15 min to get or 6 kokanee. put are lures out got 2 on the same time
put those two poles back  out then all 4 poles went off so we got are 6 kokanee and came home.
kokanee were 17 in to 20 in.   they were 30 feet to up on top.
all 6 of them had both hooks in them and there
was no way they were coming off.  every one of them was coming out of the water and going nuts
wind was real bad

Glad you found the kokes Robert, sounds like there might be some size this year but; it’s a long drive for 3 fish

Doubt that, Patrick.  Whenever I say to my wife I'm only hunting and fishing to bring home food for the family she doth protest.  Every time.

Paddler, luckily my wife loves game meat, duck and all fish, she doesn’t even like to buy meat at the grocery store! Im super lucky that way, she also tells me I have to take our dog hunting, she will say winds is blowing better take the dog and get her some work and bring home some ducks! ? So she either has a boyfriend that doesn’t hunt or fish or needs a break from me!! Actually she likes getting out too. One reason I needed to get a more comfortable boat. She was good with that too!?
I won the lottery when I found her!?
