Camped up at Fish Lake Friday night and got up early to fish. Checked out the southern part of the lake where I usually fish but it looked pretty thin near the edges. No one else was out on the ice in the area so we elected not to venture out on the ice. (Later we saw 50+ people fishing in the same area where we were too scared to go out to. So, it turns out it would have been ok. We were just being cautious since we had no idea how thick the ice was).
Instead, we drove up the road and pulled over where we saw a guy fishing about 50 ft. out. Turns out the ice was about 2 ft. thick (out away from the edges) with various layers of ice. Fishing was pretty good at first then slowed by 10 am. Brought in about 12 splake and 3 bows, the biggest was around 14". My buddies caught about 15 between the 2 of them. Only fished for about 3 hours.
