Mantua 4/4/04
#1
Went to Mantua today. fished from about 10am til 3pm-caught 1 trout about 14" on an irish spring (size 14). Missed 3 others. pretty slow day for trout. I marked literally dozens and changed flys constantly but they didn't seem to be biting. I stayed around the west bank area near the boat ramp. Water is nice and clear and the weather, of course, was perfect. Hopefully it will pick up shortly. If anyone is interested in teaching someone to fish for wipers at willard please PM me. I have my kick boat ready to go but am a rookie fishing for wipers since I have never done it.
Hope everyone had a good fishing weekend!

I was working the north side today at mantua. Got some ok Bass, hit the ramp area on the way home, and landed a big fat trout on accident. He took a skirted jig with a 3 inch kalin grub trailer. Takes a big trout to hit a lure like that.

Anyways, saw three other trout get caught right there near the ramp. Seems the lure guys were doing better than the fly guys. I didnt see anyone get one on a fly.

The Bass had moved into the north inlet channel and you had to work the lure over the edge of the drop off to get them. Didnt find any bass in the shallows. Lots of bass rigs pounding the east side.
