Oregon Fishing Update
#1
Fisheries Update

May 3rd – May 9th, 2002

Prepare yourselves for another round of spring chinook fishing on the big river. We left the season with good catches from Westport to Bonneville but even though there should be fish available in the lower Columbia, the best action will likely be around Bonneville Dam.

Sturgeon fishing remains good in the gorge and is beginning to perk in the estuary. Oversize fish are starting to be more common in the gorge. The Willamette was only fair on Tuesday but picked up on Thursday (5/2).

The best action is taking place from the mouth of the Clackamas River to Meldrum Bar. The Sandy and Clackamas Rivers have both spring chinook and summer steelhead. Although steelhead are more available, spring chinook are in catchable numbers on both systems.

The Santiams should see a nice push of steelhead and a few fresh springers available this week. Tillamook Bay also has springer but no great effort is taking place yet. Poor tides until the next issue comes out.

Always more at http://www.theguidesforecast.com/

Subscribe to this report and have it e-mailed to you weekly for free OR subscribe to our comprehensive report and have access to all the information you need to catch more fish!

Get more Oregon fishing information at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com
