...I don't have any luck with non-obvious fishing set-ups. I mean, I know how to put on power bait, how to fish a spinner, etc. but when it comes to jigs, jigs tipped with bait, etc. I must not have a clue because I fished the bear on saturday with no bites. in fact, I never get bites when I fish the bear. Please help clueless here [crazy]. Pictures, discriptions, etc. would all be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Where on the Bear are you fishing? I went for awhile sat evening with my sons. We caught, I would say, about 18 mudcats, 3 or 4 carp (one of my sons caught a carp that was 27" and weight about 12 lbs.) and three channel cats. The channels were about 18" and about 3 lbs. We were using a night crawler and sink in right on the bottom. The water was about 5-6 feet deep where we were fishing.

I dont know if you want to cast tubes to the shallows for cutts or if you are talking tubes for vertical jigging lakers, but basically. theres tons of ways to rig tubes.
The most popular, and widley used method, will be to take the jig head, either round ball, or tube jig style, and insert it into the hole in the body of the tube.
Push the eye through the plastic, and tie on. It helps to lube up the head before inserting it just to make a slick smooth surface to slide on.
Other ways are to take a half head, thats a roundball that only has the front half of the lead there, and thread the hook into the tip of the tube and slide the hook out the back end through the inner hole. Mostly bass guys using this technique. This is also done with a regular roundball head.
Some guys wacky rig tubes but I doubt thats what you are looking for.
As far as the rigging with bait, if you are chasing macks, fillet a side off a cisco or other bait fish, and fold the large end over itself a bit. Then put the hook through the folded end.
No big deal, I would say more than messing with the bait and rigging issue, since you probably got it right, try to find high percentage depths holding fish at the current time. That is for whatever species you are targeting.
I am not one of the big bear lake guys, so i wont tell you how to get them up there. But I have heard that the key is depth up there. Find the depth the fish are holdign at at the given time of year, and you will find the fish.

I may have jumped to the conclusion that you were fishing the Bear River. Bear Lake as BLM indicated is a whole different story.
