It is now 4:00 PM, and we just walked in the door from fishing the upper bay rivers. Today we went to the Northeast River, and to the Susquehanna above the I-95 Bridge.
We launched at Tydings at 6:00 am, and headed to the Northeast first, and satrted working some rocks and wood with a Rapala DT6 crankbait and a Terminator spinnerbait in a chartreuse/red combination. Within 20 minutes, we had a largemouth bass that weighed a little over 3 pounds on the crankbait, and a Smallmouth bass of 2.5 pounds on the Terminator spinnerbait. A great way to start the day.
We caught several more largemouth that were in the 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pound range, and then moved up into the Susquehanna.
We worked the bridge pilings with the crankbaits and caught 3 more largemouth and another smallmouth that pushed 3 pounds. This was the best smallmouth we had taken from this area in a long time. The largemouth were all decent, and the largest was 2 3/4 pounds.
We spent some more time working some other areas we had never tried before, and caught 2 more largemouth of 13 inches on the spinnerbait, and a giant yellow perch on the crankbait.
It was sunny and warm by 11:00 am, and we left at 2:00 pm , as we had many long days this week on the upper bay, and had to be back on the water with a client on Saturday, and needed a little rest.
All in all, it was a great day on the upper bay, and we would have been happy to weigh in the bag we had at any tournament. Tight lines Steve and Kurt vonBrandt
