[ul][li]Tojave is on the ute indian tribal land south of orray. It's almost a three hour drive after you leave the pavement. You go through orray, past pelican lake and into the book cliffs. If you want to go buy a CURRENT map of the area. there are oil field roads all over the place out there and it is really easy to get lost. I fished it two years ago and it was alot of fun. It was so hot you couldn't hardly stand it. The randger that checked out licenses told us any thing brite and chartruese is best, but it was so hot we ended up drowning worms just so we could sit in one spot. Fishing was awsome; twenty or so fish a piece and several of them were over three pounds. The real bonus is they have Lahontan cuthroats in there. We only caught one, mostly browns and rainbows.[/li][/ul]

If your refering to towave in eastern utah(uinta basin area)I use to fish it all the time as a kid.The fishing was great(and yes there were alot of good size fish)You have to buy a reservation permit(ute I think)They raised the price several years ago making them quite expensive(thats when I quit going there)I don't know what the price is now.If you go keep your eye's peeled, there were alot of rattle snakes in the area,We ran into them on many trips.Let us know how you do. I still buy the tribal waterfowl permits. I think the fishing permits are the same price. You're looking at about $55 plus a $10 tribal stamp. They've got some great fishing on the reservation, but it's too pricey for me. I'll only pay that much to shoot ducks. :-) Also, the tribe has this nasty habit of draining their reservoirs down to almost nothing during low water years. They've wiped out several of their good fisheries doing this.

Absolute rip off if you ask me, but that is my 2 cents!!! I used to fish Clay basin ponds in the Uintah basin and also some nice stretches of the Yellowstone and Lake Fork rivers on tribal lands in the past. The Indians have had there fishing licenses as high as $75 in the past 10 year. For land that the john Q public helps fund also. When I have bought Tribal licenses in the past the Tribal fish and game still have treated me like crap when they check me. I really want to fish some honey spots out in the tribal lands in the basin. But for their rediculous fishing license they can keep it!!!

Oh, i agree that the money the are asking for those fiching licenses is outrageous, but i love to fish those nice stretches over on Lake Fork and on the Yellowstone and Rock Creek. I Know there are some very good sized trout in all of those rivers and they are very fun to catch. As for fish and game being rude I haven't been treated like that. When I've been checked the ranger usually doesn't say much just checks me and then leaves or most of the time just watchd from thier truck without ever being checked.
But the one good thing I can say about fishing on tribal land is there is no one around. There is always places to camp, never see anyone one on the rivers and that almost makes it worth my money
