Little Wood River
#1
FISHING: Fair
OPEN

The Little Wood is seeing the first hatches of Californicus, the giant stonefly. These insects are huge and will draw great strikes on the right day. Water conditions can be fickle on the Little Wood this time of the year, but with limited clarity and flows within the river's banks, anglers can feel somewhat confident that a fish will see their big dry fly offerings. Stay on the move, cover a lot of water, and enjoy the unique desert scenery.
After the opener, anglers can fish the Little Wood above the Little Wood Reservoir. Generally speaking, if the Big Wood looks fishable here in the valley, then chances are the Little Wood is experiencing the same conditions and is fishable.
