Lake Toho Fishing Report
#1
FISHING REPORT
FOR LAKE TOHO (TOHOPEKALIGA)
BY: CAPTAIN CHUCK MATTHEWS
April 14, 2001

I started fishing Lake Toho then I
decided to try Cypress by going through the locks.
The water was so low that I decided not to go to
Cypress. When you go through South Port’s locks
to Cypress, do not shut down or you will not get
back on plane.

On Hatchineha, you will have skinny water. Keep
your locator on. If you locate water three to four
feet deep, you can shut down and fish that water
and also where the water drops; as is does going
into Lake Kissimmee. Out in front of Hatchineha
Marina there is some good water.

On Kissimmee Lake, I did catch some fish on the
inside left of the Pig Trail on top water baits. The
best fishing on Toho remains in open water in five
to six feet of water over hydrilla with rattle traps.

The fishing is on the slow side as a rule. But if, at
any time you locate the right areas, you can catch
some nice fish.

I have got to tell you that I have been fishing this
chain for over 20 years and except for Lake Toho,
these lakes are in the worst shape I have ever seen.
The drought is really hurting our waters. Also the
Fishing Commission is spraying and dropping
pellets on Toho. I wish they would do something
on Cypress and Hatchineha also. Remember, while
running your boat, to be careful and watch your
depth and water pressure gauge. I wish I had
better news on the fishing with artificial baits.
Shiner fishing is still providing good catches on
Lake Toho.

Till Next Week,

Captain Chuck
Pro Bass Guide
http://www.orlandobassfishing.com
http://www.centralfloridabassfishing.com

Captain Chuck Matthews
