question for y'all, where does it go?
#1
Where does the water in fish lake (sevier county) go? with no above ground outlet i know that it comes out of the bottom of the lake therfor is there a part of the lake that is "bottomless?" or is it more like an aquafer system?

thanks for any info you may have, i have been pondering this one for many many years

There is an outlet that flows into Johnson's Reservoir out the North end of the lake. It then flows down the Fremont River into Mill Meadow and then through Wayne County. It's not a very defined outlet more of a marshy area near Fish Lake itself but as you get farther away from Fish Lake and nearer to Johnson's it becomes more of a stream. As for the bottomless/aquifer question, I have heard the rumors that there are a system of caves or holes in the bottom of the lake that could have no bottom so it's a possibility that it's bottomless, and most lakes and reservoirs (I haven't ever heard of an exception) do recharge aquifers so I would say yes part of the outflow does recharge an aquifer.
