Oregon Fishing Update
#1
Fisheries Update

June 14th - June 20th, 2002

The opportunities are endless on the Columbia. A nice fishery has popped up just outside of the mouth of the Columbia but the Sad news it that it is due to close on Sunday the 16th. Nice LIMITS of chinook are being taken by anglers working the water south of the CR Buoy. Get all the details in the full-length version of our newsletter.

The sturgeon action is consistently good as well with some days being better than others. The best bite seems to be out of Hammond where anchovies have taken over as top bait. The oversize show is in full swing and so is the shad run. Over 1.3 million have already crossed the dam and certainly more to come to supply anglers with adequate bait for the oversize fishery. Herring are available in Yaquina Bay.

The Clackamas and Sandy Rivers continue to produce catches of spring chinook and summer steelhead. Anglers below Willamette Falls are catching springers, but not above the Falls where it's been very slow. Shad are being taken again in the Oregon City area.

Fresh springers are entering Tillamook Bay whew anglers are taking them on spinners and herring and into the Trask where they're falling to bobber 'n' eggs. Some summers have been taken on the Wilson and Nestucca Rivers.

Odell Lake remains best bet for kokanee limits Green Peter is reported as good and while Wickiup is only fair, the average koke is 16 inches. Trout will be planted this week in Collins, Harriet, Timber, Trillium and Leaburg Lakes, Silver Creek, Detroit and Big Cliff Reservoirs, Junction City, E.E. Wilson and Roaring River Park Ponds, Salt Creek, the upper and lower

Always more at http://www.theguidesforecast.com/

Get more Oregon fishing information at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com
